“ISRAELI”-JEWISH ZIONISM & PALESTINIAN ARAB “PALESTINIAN”ISM
Two sides of one coin. This coin’s been flat on the ground for almost 70 years, the Hebrew
side on top, the Arab side under it.
But people aren’t coin.
Nor is a modern democratic state a coin on the ground with one nation on top and another under it.

“ISRAELI”-JEWISH ZIONISM & PALESTINIAN ARAB “PALESTINIAN”ISM
Two exclusivist nationalist ideologies. They’re condemned to constant conflict.
As long as Jews in Palestine identify with Zionism & call themselves “Israelis”,
& as long as the term “Palestinians” is used to refer only to Arab Palestinians
(thus excluding the entire Hebrew-speaking population of Palestine),
there will be no end to the struggle, there will be no free Palestine (Israeland).
One side of a coin on the ground must always be on top.

But “Israeli” Jews and Palestinian Arabs are all of them Palestinians,
that’s where they live, where most of them were born, that is the land they love.
Hebrews until ’48 called it Palestina (E[retz] Y[israel]), Arabs call it Falastin.
& they all need to be liberated – one from holding the other down
& one from being held down by the other.
&/but they can’t liberate themselves unless they see that the other
is their fellow countryman-or-woman.
Respect for the other’s & one’s own national identity is the opposite of exclusivist nationalism.

The cause of a FREE PALESTINE (Israeland) is the cause of all Palestinians, both Arab & Hebrew – if only they could free themselves of their nationalist ideologies, acknowledge past injustices, & start working together on the so-complex task of making things right in Palestine…
